Aunt Melinda's Spaghetti Sauce
Ingredients:
2 medium bay leaves 2 T. brown sugar 1½ lbs. lean ground beef, browned 1 tsp. sugar ¼ cup Parmesan cheese ¼ cup olive oil 2 medium onions, diced 1 medium green pepper, diced 1½ lbs. Italian sausage, browned 3 (14½ oz.) cans whole tomatoes 1 (14½ oz.) can stewed tomatoes 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp. mustard 1 tsp. celery seed 1 tsp. salt ½ tsp. pepper 1½ T. dry oregano 1 clove garlic, crushed parsley 2 (4 oz.) cans tomato puree 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste Mix all ingredients together and simmer as long as desired, the longer it’s simmered, the better the flavor. Serve over spaghetti noodles. Makes lots. Portions can be frozen. |

Substitute the following for the tomato products: 1 large can whole tomatoes 1 can diced tomatoes 12 oz. tomato paste 1 large can tomato puree 2 cans stewed tomatoes 1 can crushed tomatoes Added extra garlic plus three cloves of crushed garlic |
