We are at War
I like children. Children are the vary essence of joy, exuberance, unconditional love, trust and honesty. The younger the child, the more open and honest, the more trusting and dependant, the more joyful and caring they are. Whenever I am feeling the cynicism of age, I walk into a classroom and am refreshed.
But children grow up. As they grow they pick up the attitudes and habits of those that surround them. If they are surrounded by the world, they will grow worldly, if they are surrounded by spiritual giants, they will grow into spiritual giants. George Barna in his book “Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions” states that the attitudes and values of church participation are formed early and early habits do not change.
Hence, we are at war – Satan targets the hearts and souls of the children for he knows that if he can get the child, he will have the adult. It is the God-given responsibility of every Christian parent to fight Satan with the best weapons ever given – God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Our Savior Lutheran School offers the parents another weapon in this fight against Satan. Our Savior Lutheran School surrounds each student with love, compassion, safety, knowledge and prayer. Daily each student is exposed to the four cornerstones of a Christian worldview – the Bible, Bible stories, how the Bible fits together and a desire to obey God. It is my privilege to be a partner to the parents in this most important of all wars – fighting for the hearts and souls of the children.
As we fight together for the children, we need encouragement. The best encouragement we can receive is prayer – please pray for us. Thank you.
