Pima Air & Space Museum
Richard and Carol took a tour of the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. on March 31, 2017.
The Pima Air & Space Museum is one of the largest non-government funded aviation and space museums in the world! Featuring over 300 historical aircrafts, from a Wright Flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. Sitting on 80 acres the museum opened its doors to the public in May of 1976. Over the past forty years, the museum has grown immensely and today encompasses five indoor exhibit hangars (two dedicated to WWII).
Highlights of the tour included Rich trying his hand at a docking procedure in space via a simulator in the Space Museum, getting close up looks at the famous bombers of WWII (including the B-17, B-24 and B-29) and the Air Force One planes used by General / President Eisenhower and President John Kennedy.
The largest aircraft we saw were the NASA "Super Guppy," 787 Dreamliner and B-36 Peacemaker. The smallest aircraft we saw was the "Bumblebee" - at just 6' long.
