Spritz Cookies

Ingredients::
1 1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
 
Thoroughly cream butter and sugar
Add egg and vanilla - beat well
Stir in flour and baking soda mixture gradually, mixing to form smooth dough - do not chill
Force dough through a cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheets
Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes
Cool

For a variation we added food coloring to dough
