November 3, 2004: Chicago - Europe
Wednesday November 3, 2004
We arrived at O'Hara airport in Chicago at Noon to check our luggage. It is a partly sunny day with temperatures in the 50 ° 's (Fahrenheit). I am flying Air Alitalia (the airline of the country of Italy. I meet many of my fellow tour passengers. We greeted each other) we are excited to be going to the land where our Lord walked and taught.
We are looking forward to a nice flight with good food and arriving in Israel tomorrow. We will fly though out the night. I am going to have a bottle of water and a snack before we board the flight.
The airline terminal is very empty, we are waiting for our plane and for the rest of the passengers. We arrived early in order to go through the security screening. I had to take my computer out of its case, take off my shoes, jacket and hat, and put my carry-on bags on the belt. My belongings went through a x-ray unit. I then had to walk through a metal detector to see if I was carrying anything dangerous to the flight. I passed. I gathered all of my things and walked to the departure gate. I waited with my fellow passengers.
We boarded the plane at 5:20 PM, Central Standard Time, after a delay. Soon we headed out of Chicago, flying northeast over Lake Michigan, over Lansing, MI, over the southern portion of the Thumb of Michigan, continuing into Canada, over the Northern Atlantic Ocean, south of England, through the heart of France, crossing the Alps, and landing in Milan, Italy.
Shortly after take off we received a dinner of beef tips with gravy and green beans, pasta with red sauce, turkey slices with slivered carrots, hard roll and butter, cheese and crackers, and fresh fruit for dessert.
We watched a movie, The Bourne Supremacy, and tried to rest. At 12:30 AM on Thursday, November 4, (Central Standard Time) we were served a breakfast snack ½ a sandwich with bacon and cheese, a Danish, coffee and Orange Juice.
We flew at an altitude of 10,700 M. It was 7, 274 KM from Chicago to Milan. We landed at Milan at 8:30 AM (Local time) on Thursday, November 04. We boarded flight 804 to Tel Aviv at 10:05 AM, local time. We had a breakfast on board of fish, pasta, sliced hard boiled egg, turkey slice, beef meat slice, fruit, and cake. We had water, coffee, tea to drink.
God Bless.
