Aunt Judy's Italian Beef
Place meat in roasting pan. Sprinkle one pkt of Au Jus evenly over meat. Pat into meat as much as possible. Doesn't have to be thick. Put the rest aside. Sprinkle garlic powder on meat, lightly. Sprinkle the rest of ingredients on meat generously but not thickly. Put enough water in roasting pan around meat to equal one third up the side of the meat. Sprinkle rest of the au jus mixed in the water. Sprinkle other ingredients into water and au jus mixture. Cover loosely with foil.
Bake at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hrs. Make sure water does not dry up.
NOTE:After I sliced the meat, I put it in a crock pot and added some Pepperoncini Peppers with the juice - then warmed it on low for a few hours and then high just before serving.
Let sit in oven with heat off for 1 hr. Cool down enough to slice. Slice very thinly.
Not exactly Italian but it's delicious - It's actually pot roast
Mix it all together and pour over the roast
cook 4 hours on high or 8 hours on medium in slow cooker
if you don't want to use the salsa, add Italian seasoning with water
Meat will shred, rather than slice.
