Rich was asked to present the Invocation at Rebecca's high school event.
Invocation
Heavenly Father, Almighty Creator, Sustainer of the Universe.
You created all things, yet You care for us – individually – personally – by name. We stand here this evening, ready to embark on the next phase of our earthly journey –
We thank You for Your guidance, Your strength, Your power, Your love, Your walk with us.
We have knowledge – and we ask that You would show us how and when to use that knowledge – so that we may do no harm.
We have skill – and we ask that You would show us how and when to use that skill – so that we may give peace.
We have compassion – and we ask that You would show us how and when to use that compassion – so that we may comfort.
We have wisdom – and we ask that You would show us how and when to use that wisdom – so that we may serve.
We have faith – and we ask that You would show us how and when to draw on that faith – so that we may trust.
We pray that we may never take our tasks for granted – take our responsibilities lightly. Let us always grow in knowledge – grow in wisdom – grow in learning – so that we may always give all we have – all You have created us to be – to every part of our life – from our family to our patients – from our home to our hospital – from ourselves to others.
We ask that we may see and understand – not just with our eyes, but with our minds – not just with our minds – but with our hearts– not just with our hearts – but with our lives.
We dedicate ourselves this evening to be used as instruments of your healing power. We ask that you would use us. We humbly ask that we have joy of service.
For all we were, for all we are, for all we will become – we give You thanks.
