Jiminy Cricket

Ever since Carol was a young girl, she would use the phrase, “Jiminy Cricket,” as am exclamation of surprise, anxiety, shock, or wonderment.
Over the years she grew fond of the phrase, almost without thinking.

After she was married to Rich, the phrase took on additional meaning as she learned how in the story of Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket serves as a sort of conscience or mentor to the wooden puppet. He accompanies Pinocchio on his adventures and tries to guide him towards making good choices.

Since Carol enjoyed the character of Jiminy, Rich decided to start a collection of Jiminy Crickets that she could display and be reminded of her youth, having a good conscience, and how much she was cherished. Over the years her family has added to the collection, so that now she can also be reminded of the love of not only her husband, but her family.

Special Painting

Picture
This painting of Jiminy Cricket was obtained by Rich as a Christmas present, 2022, for Carol. The artist is Kent of Kentpaints.com. Since his studio is in Florida, Rich and Carol flew to Orlando to obtain the painting from  the artist himself. They had the painting framed by Hobby Lobby.

Jiminy at Disney

Picture
Rich and Carol visited Disney World, Orlanod, in 2012. While they were there, Carol was able to find and enjoy a statue of Jiminy Cricket.

The Parade

Jiminy was one of  the characters on the Main Sreet Bus as the parade passed us by while we were at Disney World.

First Commissioned Art

Picture
When Rich was in Disney Springs, he took a picture of a painting that hung on the wall in the Disney store. He commissioned Granddaughter, Sophia, to draw the painting for a Christmas present for Grandma Carol. Sophia, age 7, drew this and gave it to Grandma Carol for Christmas, 2016.

The Early Collection

The earliest pieces in the collection are now displayed on a special shelf - each one a special memory.
