Trains, Planes, and Automobiles (and everything else that gets one from here to there)
My love for all things transportation began when I was a young boy and continued throughout my growing up years. I still enjoy travel today, as well as seeing vintage forms of transportation up close and personal.
When I was very young, I lived across the street from a railroad line. I would stand in my front yard and wave to the steam locomotive engineers as the rushed past our house.
I can remember long cross-country road trips in the back seat of my father's 1952 Ford, the sun streaming int he window, warming the seat fabric, life was good.
My first airplane ride was when I flew from New York to Illinois for my grandfather' s funeral in 1958. My first solo flight was the summer of my sophomore year in high school when I flew from Chicago to DeKalb, Illinois. I still enjoy seeing and riding on airplanes.
Dad would take us out in rowboats every chance he could get, to fish. I didn't like fishing as much as I liked rowing.
