The Computer
One day I am sure someone is going to make vast sums of money developing a software package that I can install on my computer that will allow my computer to:
Let me illustrate number 3. I wish to type the phrase, “neighbors in” and I end up with “neighbor sin.” The spell check feature will indicate the later is correct, however, the movement of the “s” from one word to the next causes a change in the meaning of the phrase.
Yes, I love computers – I use computers – I own computers. I also get frustrated with, angry at, and talk to my keyboard. The computer is very, very unforgiving. It will display, send, or load only that which is typed or entered into the computer. The computer demands 100% correct – each and every time. It will not allow me a “gimme” – common on golf courses or a “good enough” – usually associated with a project that is done to the satisfaction of the assignment – not the very best work. The computer is very literal – if I type “fro” it will display “fro” – even when I mean “for.”
Oh, I know, I can set certain codes into the machine that will automatically “fix” my words – for example “fro” becomes “for” – however – I can’t always depend on that. Someday I might need the word “fro” and have to “undo” my codes. So, what is one to do? Always perform at 100%!
Ah, there is the rub – I can’t. The makers of the computer know that – they gave me a “delete” key, a “backspace” key and even a blue arrow that will “undo” that which is done. I have lots of ways to “undo” and then “do” that which is perfect – 100%.
God demands 100%! God doesn’t “Grade on a curve.” For God, “Good enough – isn’t!”
Paul writes in Romans 3: 23 – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
But God makes us perfect! As it is recorded in the book of Acts, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
What is the name under heaven given to men by which we are saved? Yes – Jesus! Jesus lived His life sinless – perfect. He suffered for us – He died for us – He lives – so that we may live!
God demands 100% - God doesn’t grade on the curve – He grades on the cross!
Prayer – Thank You, God, for Jesus! Amen.
- Type what is in my head and not what my fingers type
- Sends e-mail that has attachments when it is supposed to have attachments, but I forgot to put attachments in the e-mail
- Checks my document not only for spelling, but also for correct word usage
