Our Savior Lutheran Church and School
In August, 2007, Rich accepted the Call to be Principal of Our Savior Lutheran School, 1601 Holmes Road, Lansing, MI.
Carol continued her position in the Michigan District - LCMS headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This provided lots of time on the road as she drove back and forth daily.
During this time Rich wrote a BLOG, Principal Thoughts that provided information and devotional thoughts.
The time spent at Our Savior was a transition time, both personally, professionally and for the church.
Rich faced two major surgeries while at Our Savior - bowel cancer and gall bladder. Both surgeries entailed extended recovery periods that caused unrest among the faculty.
The congregation also listed the church and school to be sold as they were wanting to move further into the country. Rich was asked to take on the role of owner representative for the building project. Again, Rich's health issues prevented him from performing this function to the congregation's expectations.
