Concordia Stained Glass Cross Window
Carol entered Concordia University, Ann Arbor, MI, when she was a single mom raising two boys. This gave her the advantage of age in classes with younger students.
Carol made friends with two other older women students, Kathleen DeMumbrum and Joanne Miller. The three women shared similar struggles as they labored. Their friendship allowed them to lean on each other, providing comfort in difficulties and celebrations at successes.
Carol was doing fieldwork at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jackson, MI, and spied this window in a local home business while making a ministry call. Since the three ladies were anticipating graduation in December, 1988, Carol purchased three windows, one for each of them as a memory of how God sustained them through the challenges of raising a family while pursuing an education that would lead to work in the church.
The cross reminds us of God’s provision in difficult times.
