Palm Frond Cross
In 2012 Rich attended a meeting in San Diego, CA. One day the group ate lunch along the beach. After lunch Rich took a walk along the beach and met a young man who was selling homemade creations he wove from palm fronds that had fallen from the nearby palm trees.
Rich struck up a conversation and declined to purchase any of the pieces he offered. Just as Rich was ready to walk away, the young man reached into his bag and pulled out a cross made from woven palm fronds and featuring a rose.
Rich was struck by the intricacy and symbolism. The cross reminds us of the hope of heaven Christ won for us on the cross while the rose is an ancient symbol of the passion of Christ. He purchased it and gave it to Carol.
